PAST SIMPLE - Regular & Irregular verbs: aka "The Horrible List"

Hello guys!
Here we are, again!

Time to review....playing!
Let's start!

We're going to revise (=ripasseremo) 3 aspects of PAST SIMPLE:

  1. Affirmative form of regular verbs
  2. Affirmative form of irregular verbs
  3. how to form Negative and Interrogative in past

Make sure you understand the first 2 steps before going forward (=avanti) to the 3rd.

1. Affirmative form of regular verbs

a. Let's start by watching this video: click here

b. Do you still need to revise the rules? Don't panic! Here's an explanation, and some games by The British Council Kids: Past simple - sentences.

By the Way! (=a proposito!) Here's a spelling variations chart you may need to copy in your copybook:

c. Now let's practise: challenge yourself with some interactive exercises... the first, the second, the third! And you can choose other games from the column on the right!

d. For those who want to dig into the -ed pronounciation (but don't worry! it's not obligatory!), they can watch this video.

2. Affirmative form of irregular verbs

Memorizing the Irregular verbs... What a nightmare!(=incubo, pronounced /nait'mer/)

So, to help you, first of all here are some music videos to help you to revise them:

And remember!  you can also revise the verbs with a crafty (=manuale) activity, such as...

Once you've revised all the verbs, you must be ready to...play!

3. How to form Negative and Interrogative forms at Past Simple

Attention, please!

This is a NEW topic (=argomento), so don't worry, we're going to repeat it at school next week!

Firstly, let's watch together this video that explains the forms: if you want to skip (=saltare) the affirmative form, go to minute 1:32.

For the visual students, here's a chart: if you want, you can copy it in your copybook...

Wanna practise a little?
In this website you'll find lots of exercises... here

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMPORTANT SECTION!!!!
To be better understood, I'll turn to Italian...

Al termine, segui questo link [https://forms.gle/LCfK41Kb2eL8T5zq8] e rispondi alle domande online mettendo il tuo nome e cognome: è un modulo Google che mi farà avere le tue risposte. Non è un test con voto, ma serve a me per vedere se questo lavoro online è stato chiaro ed efficace per voi...quindi diciamo che è più per “mettere il voto a me” che a voi alunni!

I hope you'll find these links and activities useful and fun.
See you in class!
